Summer Fun - Chickens first egg

We have just been having a fun summer. This week, we went bowling with some neighbors. My kids really had a good time.

Even Wyatt learned how to bowl. He got the highest score of us all!!

Then John went on a 12 mile hike with Jack and so on Saturday we had to go and pick them up. We went up to the campground where they were supposed to meet us. We started hiking the path and a huge thunder storm came so we went back to the car. I forgot my camera, but it was really beautiful. I guess as we were waiting in the car, another car that we had previously talked with left and they saw John and Jack and asked if they were looking for us, so they drove back up and told us they were down at the 1000 peaks ranch. I am so glad they are home safely. I guess there wasn't much trail up there and they were climbing huge rocks and so they decided to take a different route and came out around the lake. They had a good time.

While they were gone the kids and I went swimming at Serena's and then we went out to eat with her and we rented Planet 51 to watch.

Today our chickes laid their first eggs. Well I think it was yesterday! Yesterday our one chicken flew over the fence and we couldn't find her anywhere. Then we finally found her stuck in the fence. We have a wood fence and the neighbors have a chain link fence. She was between the two fences. Then today we heard her trying to lay an egg but she couldn't do it so then a few minutes later, she flew over the fence again and into the same spot. We went to the neighbors and saw that she had built a nest and there were three eggs laying there. Amazing.

That is too cute that Wyatt learned to bowl and got the highest score! I bet that was a blast--I should take the kids bowling! :)

We were so glad we could share with you in your chickens first egg. It was really fun. Hope you enjoy fresh chicken eggs! (what are you going to use them for first?)

Bowling sure looks like fun, I love the chicken story, it sounds so exciting! I still can't believe the silly thing went in between the fences...crazy chicken!
