Last Night's Destruction

So last night I woke up at 4:00 a.m. to a big crack!!! I woke John up and told him I thought our tree had fallen over. He said, "No way" So we went and look out the window and sure enough our tree had cracked in half!! I was so sad.

Our neighbors tree had also cracked in half. There was just too much ice and snow on the newly budded trees and they couldn't hold the wait. I am so sad. This tree has offered us many, many hours of shade. I guess we will have to plant a new tree but by the time it is big enough for shade my kids will be all grown. We will miss you lovely tree.

A big thanks to all the neighborhood men who came and helped us cut it down. It was so nice to have your help. It would have taken us sooo long to get this done on our own. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

It is hard to believe that just a night ago my kids were sleeping out on the trampoline and now this.

It is just SO sad to be missing these beautiful shade trees!! I am going to have to figure out what to do now. :( You are right, even replanting, the kids will be grown by the time it will be big enough to provide shade.
Thanks again for all your help!!! (and so glad our tree didn't hit your house or take down your fence and chickens!!)

That is very sad. That is one thing I miss at this house is mature trees.

Good thing it didn't hit your house. That could have been worse.
